I'm developing a theory that Charles Clarke will be to Tony Blair what Geoffrey Howe was to Margaret Thatcher. Not the whole career, just the bit where he unexpectedly stabbed her in the back and triggered a leadership crisis. What do you think?
Well I suppose this is as close as we're going to get to it, though I do note that, following the trail I blazed, various less sharp commentators are drawing the same parallel.
