Good work to the 83 MPs* who said 'no' to the Lords' ridiculous ID cards 'compromise', which involves no compromise at all on the part of the ID proponents. They were always more interested in the compulsory database than the compulsory card, and the compulsory database they will still have, with the card following shortly behind. (I note that
strictlytrue favourites Philip Hollobone and Peter Bone are split on this issue. Is there a breach in the North Northamptonshire alliance?)
In the meantime, if parliament won't stop ID cards, then the people will have to do it.

Power to the people!

*Plus North West Leicestershire's David Taylor, who not for the first time voted both yes and no. His heart is in the right place.
UPDATE: Since everyone in the world seems to like Peter Tatchell these days, here's Peter Tatchell:
"ID cards are a grotesque waste of public money. The £19 billion should be spent on improving schools and hospitals."
